Key takeaway:

To Master Your Work, You Need To First Master Your Mind

What is Self-Inquiry Meditation:

Self-Inquiry Meditation is considered a foundational meditation as it gives you a simple and potent tool to instill peace in your daily activities. With simple questions like ‘What is aware of my thoughts?’ one can step out of one’s thoughts and emotions and move into the background peace of one’s experience.

This is possible as when we move away from the contents of our thoughts/emotions to the awareness that is prior to them, we experience the qualities of awareness; and unlike our thoughts and emotions, awareness is always a steady flow of ‘aware emptiness’ that lacks agitation. The more we ground ourselves and our daily activities in awareness, the more effortless our work and projects become as the qualities of awareness are brought into our work.

How can Leaders use this technique to make better decisions:

Once you learn this meditation technique, you could incorporate this during your working hours especially when you get stuck on a problem, or when you struggle to make a decision. (This takes only 1 to 10 seconds)

By moving your attention away from the problem you are stuck on for a few seconds, and by asking yourself the simple question ‘What is aware of my problems?’ You can quickly come back to the experience of ‘being aware’, and this takes your attention away from the issue and gives you a doorway to the peace that always flows into your experience. Being in this peace then allows you to make better and more creative decisions as your focus is relaxed and your mind is open to the flow of experience without resistance.

Listen to this meditation which I recorded in order to learn the basics, and then practice this multiple times a day during your working hours for just a few seconds each time.
