Key takeaway:

To Master Your Work, You Have to First Master Your Energy

What is Energy:

You may have heard of Qigong or you may have just come across the word ‘Chi’. We can use many different terms but the term that is most appealing and neutral is ‘Energy’. So why should we learn about energy? Perhaps this is just a word that experienced meditators are acquainted with. However, learning about energy and becoming aware of it can have a significant impact on the quality of your life, your relationships, and your work.

Where is the Problem in Our Work:

Oftentimes, when we hit an obstacle at work, or in our lives, we externalize our problems; we may feel frustrated while attending to our work, and our minds tend to quickly jump to conclusions that the frustration is caused by our work. However, when we inquire into the situation, what we find is that the frustration was never caused by the task but by our own energy.

If we truly understand and become aware of our energy, we can locate with laser-precision the source of our problems. For example, if you deal with a co-worker who is rude to you, and in response you get angry, you may think that your co-worker is the cause of your anger. But, when we inquire into the anger, we discover that it was actually caused by our own mental state. Of course, the annoying co-worker was like the ignition but we also had very flammable fuel in our engine. If we have a very strong, stable, and grounded energy, we can never really be put off-balance with any obstacle that may come our way.

How To Solve Our Problems:

To master our work and our relationships, we need to first master our energy, and the first step of mastering our energy is to experientially become acquainted with our energy, and how it impacts our lives and our work.

In this following podcast, we are joined by the Qigong master Ben Cox who tells his story and shares with us deep insights about Chi, energy, and Qigong from a traditional Chinese medicine background.
